How we crafted impactful storytelling to influence sales
Our job was to evolve the stale state of The Hershey Company's online presence. To do this, we conceptualised different story boards for each monthly campaign focusing on feel-good storytelling, exciting product launches, and optimized user journeys. Our job was to create multiple inter-woven storylines that people can tune in to from social media to the website, but also get their chance to participate themselves by creating a custom filter UI for social media and sharing their own UGC stories to the world. This has made the success of multiple campaigns throughout the year a guarantee for the brand.
We created multiple different strategies for each specific campaign throughout the year and yet, also made sure that those strategies tells a continuous and inter-woven story with each campaign. That meant that even if strategies shift month on month, the impact of each campaign would hold strong as audiences are strongly engaged with each content pushed out. Paid Advertising and Conversion Rate Optimization strategies were also included in this type of storytelling to enhance conversion rates as much as possible and make sure that every channel reflects the same messaging.
Over the course of 12 months, we grew the Hershey's social media accounts from 1.5 Million followers to 8.7 Million - that's a 5.8x increase in the first year! We've created a lasting impact on storytelling and how users engage with the brand to build a foundation and guideline of how the brand is perceived, and how the brand should engage with audiences moving forward. We have also created a strong eCommerce presence for the brand that could easily push advocates and visitors to a sale.
